Oh, and I finished another knit project...

I am down to FOUR WIP/UFO's! (For those who don't know the knitting lingo: WIP=work in process & UFO=un-finished objects.)

Here is the Calorimetry I just completed for Marissa. I used Berroco Comfort yarn on size 8 needles. I only cast on 80 stitches and reversed with 28 stitches between the markers.

I will be making more of these!

What I hope old age looks like for me...

So, I received these pictures from a friend who was visiting my great aunt. She is 102.9 - I add the .9 because she will be 103 in March. She still lives in her own apartment - not senior living - they don't have that in the small Iowa city in which she resides. I know she is ready to go home to the Lord, but if you are going to live a life as long as hers - to have your mind, most of your body, wonderful family memories, a love of reading and family that loves to listen to her stories - that is the way it should be. The only thing that most family members avoid is the discussion of politics & religion. I guess it is good to have strong beliefs - keeps her on top of the political scene. If you are a hard-core Hilary fan, love Bush bashing and are Roman Catholic to the core - give her a call! You might even get added to her will ;)
She is an amazing woman.

Lazy Saturday

Well, I have finished my toe-up socks. I don't like this pattern, the toe and heel don't seem like they will wear well. Time will tell. I also gathered most of the socks I have made and took a picture.

M is still sick and missed her retreat this weekend. She isn't happy, but she really still isn't well, so such is life. G is out on the slopes today, so we here at the homestead are being lazy. I like Saturday's like this.

Sick Day (or just frozen?)

Well, today I am at home with dd who is running a fever and has a very sore throat. Dr. says it is not strep according to quick test, tomorrow we will determine if 24 hour test agrees. In the mean time, I am missing work, she is missing a 'HUGE' social studies final and my dh is due home from NY this afternoon. I guess if you have to stay home, a day where the temperature was -13 degrees (f) is a good choice.

I am going to be knitting today and checking in at work as I feel up to it.

Prayer Reqest:
* My dd is supposed to go on a church retreat tomorrow evening. Please let her fever subside today and her health restored!

* Safe travel for dh.

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

So, according to my companies holiday calendar they are celebrating today as a paid holiday. I think that is great, with 1 major issue: it is 1:47am and I am on a conference call for work. The meeting started at midnight and we are hoping to end before 4am. What part of this seems like a company holiday? Maybe the thing that is making me the crabbiest is that this meeting is an attempt to provide our vendor (we are the customer) insight into the issues we are having with their product. This is the same vendor who stopped our project cold because they all had to take the month of July off (Finland tradition?).

Ok, enough whining. I will get to sleep during the day tomorrow - after I get my dh off on a trip to NY at 7am. My goals for tomorrow were (before I learned of this meeting) house cleaning, trip to look at fabric for couch, LYS (local yarn store), hang out and knit. I think I will be much less motivated.

My dd and her friend did get more of my book collection into LibraryThing. It amazed us both how many books we actually have. All but dh are avid readers. It is a pretty cool site, would recommend a click over there to take a peak if you are a book hoarder like me.
